Brigitta Zeumer, [maiden name Rochlitz] (1939 – 2015) was a German painter. She was best known for her landscapes in Germany. She was the first German artist to be invited to Beijing by the Chinese minister of culture to present her work in a solo exhibition in the Imperial Palace.
Zeumer showed her works in more than 300 exhibitions at home and abroad, including in international metropolises such as Barcelona, Chicago, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo, Vienna and Warsaw.
As a student (1969–1971) of Karl-Anton Räderscheidt (son of Anton Räderscheidt), she initially concentrated on oil paintings from 1969–1975. She had her first solo exhibition with landscapes in the Kreissparkasse in Cologne in 1971, and others made her known beyond her home state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Her works were chosen by eminent politicians to be given as gifts to heads of state in other countries:
- The then Federal President Roman Herzog presented a picture of the artist to the Chinese President Jiang Zemin in November 1996.
- In 1999, Chancellor Gerhard Schröder gave one of her works to French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin.
- In October 1999, Federal President Johannes Rau presented an original from her to Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.
