Peiro Garino (1922 – 2009) dedicated himself to painting from a young age.  He lived and worked in Turin, Italy and studied some of the time in an evening school, but his real talent was honed while attending bar where he drew and painted during the long work hours often on scraps of paper.

His first exhibit was in 1948 and he setup his first personal exhibit in the Il Grifo Gallery in Turin in the same year.  From 1950 to 1958 he showed in Venice and Rome.  His works have been exhibited in New York, Paris, Moscow, Praque, Budapest, Munich and Beirut.  In 1951, a group of 15 Piedmontese painters including Garino exhibited in Nice.  The exhibition was entitled, “Les peintres de Turin”.

By 1960 his artwork took off and his admirers grew greatly.  During this decade he became a prominent member of the Turin painting establishment and he continued to paint until his death in 2009.  He obtained numerous official awards and his works are found in important collections.

The Comune di Leini (Town of Leini) in 1999 bestowed up him, “Honorary Citizenship” because of his birthplace being Leini on 9.12.1922.  They wrote the following:

"FOR THE HIGH ARTISTIC VALUE ACHIEVED IN HIS WORKS".
